Lekh is an online YouTube transcript generator for turning public video captions into clean, readable text. Paste a YouTube URL and get the transcript in paragraph format or as timestamped lines. There is no account, no software installation and no “start free trial” surprise waiting behind the button.
Use it to create lecture notes, review podcast interviews, quote a video accurately, research a topic, or repurpose long-form content. The timestamp view keeps every line connected to the matching moment, while the plain-text view is easier to read, copy and edit.
The default caption language is selected automatically when available. Automatic fetching may use a limited transcript provider. For a free unlimited workflow, copy YouTube’s Show transcript text and use Paste transcript. Lekh also supports standard SRT and VTT subtitle files.
Transcript accuracy depends on the source captions, especially for auto-generated speech recognition. Names, accents and background audio can confuse even the most confident robot. Always review important quotes before publishing—AI bhi kabhi-kabhi full confidence mein galat hoti hai.

Is this YouTube transcript generator really free?
The manual Paste transcript and SRT/VTT import modes are free and unlimited. Automatic link fetching depends on the configured transcript provider and its quota.
How does the unlimited mode work?
Open “Show transcript” on YouTube, copy the transcript and choose “Paste transcript · unlimited” above. Lekh cleans the text, recognises copied timestamps and enables copy and TXT download without using an API credit.
Can I download the transcript as a text file?
Yes. Choose Plain text or Timestamps, then click “Save .txt”. The download uses UTF-8, so Hindi, English and other supported caption languages stay readable.
Why does a video sometimes have no transcript?
Automatic fetching needs a public caption track on that YouTube video. Private videos, restricted videos and videos without captions may not work. If you already have subtitles, import an SRT or VTT file instead.
Can I click a timestamp to play that exact part?
Yes. Open the Timestamps tab and click any timecode. The preview seeks to that moment. If a standalone preview is unavailable, Lekh opens the matching YouTube timestamp.
Does it support Hindi videos?
Yes, when the video provides Hindi captions or Hindi auto-captions. Lekh displays the caption tracks YouTube makes publicly available for that video.
Are auto-generated transcripts always accurate?
Not always. Auto-captions can mishear names, technical terms, music and accents. For serious work, review the important lines against the video. Robot smart hai, perfect nahi.
